Copyright policy
Last updated: 14 October 2026
DocuLuma respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects users of the platform to do the same. This page explains what we publish, how we verify licences, and what to do if you believe content on DocuLuma infringes your rights.
What we publish
- Information cards (metadata: title, author, date, licence) for documents from public sources, with a link to the original.
- Previews of the first pages, only where the detected licence permits it (for example CC BY, CC BY-SA, CC BY-NC or openly licensed materials from international organisations).
- We never offer the original file's download from DocuLuma: the download button points to the source site.
Licence verification
We review each document's stated licence before publishing its preview. Source metadata can still contain errors; if you spot a misread licence, let us know and we will take the preview down while we verify.
Infringement notification
If you are a rights holder (or their representative) and believe a preview published on DocuLuma infringes your work, send a notice to [email protected] including:
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
- The exact URL on DocuLuma of the document you are reporting.
- Your contact details (name, email address, telephone and address).
- A good-faith statement that the use is not authorised by the rights holder, its agent or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act on their behalf.
- Your electronic or physical signature.
Handling and timelines
- Acknowledgement within 48 business hours.
- Resolution within 72 hours: where warranted, we remove the preview and disable access to the document.
- We email you the outcome.
- Sources with repeated infringements are excluded from collection.
Counter-notification
If a document was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notification to the same address with the identification of the material, your contact details and a good-faith statement that the removal was an error. We evaluate it under the same procedure and timelines.
